Boston Bruins forward Craig Cunningham didn’t clear waivers Monday because he was claimed by the Arizona Coyotes, per TSN’s Bob McKenzie and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Cunningham, who was named Providence Bruins (AHL) captain earlier in the season, was a healthy scratch for Boston over the last five games. Brian Ferlin and Jordan Caron have played at the wing spots on the fourth line during that span.

Cunningham appeared in 32 games for the Bruins and tallied three points (two goals, one assists) and 31 shots. He played mostly at right wing but also is capable of playing center.

The 24-year-old forward should receive an increase in ice time for an Arizona team that lacks depth down the middle, especially after the Antoine Vermette trade. Cunningham will provide energy, faceoff ability, toughness and penalty killing for the Coyotes.
