Professional athletes are afforded many opportunities and second chances common people would love to have. However, there are some mistakes that can’t be undone — even for the most successful sports stars.
Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is nearing the end of his trial for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd. Jurors heard closing statements Tuesday, which means a verdict could be on the way soon. However, even an innocent verdict in this case won’t signal the end for Hernandez, who was also charged with a 2012 double murder.
Hernandez is just the latest in a growing line of athletes who have had brushes with the law, more specifically had involvement in murder cases. Those athletes aren’t always charged with murder let alone convicted, but those cases still have provided some of sports’ biggest stories in recent years.
