It’s only April, but there’s been plenty of heat in Major League Baseball already.

We’ve seen plenty of major spats and epic rants in the young MLB season, and that trend continued Tuesday night with a hearty beef between Adam Jones and Jose Bautista.

It all started in the seventh inning, when Baltimore Orioles pitcher Jason Garcia threw behind the Toronto Blue Jays outfielder. Bautista obviously took offense, then served up some justice by launching a homer deep into the Rogers Centre seats.

As you can tell, Bautista wasn’t shy about animating his opinions. Yet Jones wasn’t too thrilled with Bautista’s antics, and the Orioles outfielder let the slugger know as he jogged toward the outfield in between innings.

It’s too bad this isn’t hockey, because we’d love to see the two throw down to settle their differences. When asked about Bautista’s homer after the game, Jones didn’t back down.

“It’s not his first, it’s not a walk-off, it’s in the seventh inning,” he said, via ESPN. “Let’s not walk halfway down the line. Respect the game. I know he does, but at that moment right there he didn’t, and when it happens against my team, I’m going to take offense to it.”

Bautista, of course, had a different interpretation of events.

“You throw at me, I’m not going to forget, and if I get you right after, I’m going to enjoy it,” he said. “And I did. I have no regrets about it.”

The two American League East foes meet two more times on Thursday and Friday. Buckle up.
