AJ Lee Retires From In-Ring WWE Competition, Joining Husband CM Punk

The WWE has lost one of its divas.

A.J. Lee retired from in-ring competition with the WWE, the sports entertaining company announced Friday. Lee, whose real name is AJ Brooks, originally signed with WWE in 2009.

WWE made a brief statement saying, “We wish AJ the very best.”

Lee’s husband, CM Punk, left WWE in January 2014 and has taken up a UFC career. Punk has declared that he will never return to WWE.

Lee recently started a movement on Twitter to give divas more screen time on WWE television, calling out chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon.

Lee is a three-time winner of the WWE Divas Championship. She was feuding with the Bella Twins before her retirement.
