The Boston College Eagles are the 2015 Baseball Beanpot champions.
Junior Joe Cronin belted a two-out home run into the Green Monster seats at Fenway Park in the first inning, giving the Eagles the only run they would need.
“I don’t think I ever thought I’d hit a home run over the Monster at Fenway,” Cronin told “In The Dugout.” “Off the bat, I knew I’d got it. … I’ve seen so many Sox games where guys hit balls that are gone anywhere else and hit off the wall. It stayed up there and the wind was blowing around. I saw it bounce around and everyone go nuts.”
Cronin finished the evening 2-for-4, adding a double off the left field wall.
Senior southpaw Nick Poore got the nod on the bump for BC, going four strong innings with just two hits, no walks, and four strikeouts.
“This was the biggest game of our season so far and this meant a lot to us,” Poore told “In The Dugout.” “For us seniors, we hadn’t won it and this is something we’ve wanted to do all for our four years. Getting the opportunity to start was a dream come true; I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity.”
Senior Eric Stone, juniors Geoffrey Murphy and John Nicklas, and sophomore Justin Dunn finished off the shutout. Freshman Jake Palomaki extended a 23-game on-base streak with his bases-loaded single up the middle in the fifth, scoring junior Logan Hoggarth for the other Eagles run.

In the consolation game, Harvard fell to Northeastern, 7-6.
Despite an offensive onslaught that saw Harvard tally 17 hits — including home runs from Jake McGuiggan and Conor Quinn — the Crimson couldn’t hold a late lead, allowing single runs in both the eighth and ninth inning to the Huskies.
Quinn certainly will never forget his home run, as the first of his collegiate career soared into the Monster.
Cam Hanley’s RBI single in the top of the ninth plated Maxwell Burt to put Northeastern ahead for good.
