Bruins Practice Report: Zdeno Chara Returns, Dennis Seidenberg Absent

WILMINGTON, Mass. — The Boston Bruins welcomed captain Zdeno Chara back to practice Tuesday morning at Ristuccia Arena.

The veteran defenseman missed Monday’s practice for what head coach Claude Julien called a maintenance day. Chara was in pain after blocking a shot with his lower left leg during Saturday’s 2-1 shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg was the only player absent from practice Tuesday. Julien said Seidenberg was “feeling under the weather” and will travel with the team on its upcoming three-game road trip.

Defenseman Dougie Hamilton skated before practice on his own for the second consecutive day, per The Boston Herald’s Stephen Harris. Hamilton will not travel with the team, per Julien, but Joe Morrow will accompany the Bruins after being recalled from Providence on an emergency basis Monday.

The Bruins also worked on their power play, which has scored only one goal in its last 15 attempts over the previous five games. David Krejci and Torey Krug were at the points on the first unit, with Patrice Bergeron, Ryan Spooner and Loui Eriksson up front. Chara and Reilly Smith were at the points on the second unit, with Milan Lucic, Carl Soderberg and Brett Connolly up front.
