Bubba Watson Responds To Negative Poll: ‘I Need To Improve As A Man’

Other guys on the PGA Tour might not be too fond of Bubba Watson, but at least he’s owning up to it.

ESPN.com recently conducted a secret survey of PGA players in which one of the questions was “___ is in a fight in the parking lot. You’re not helping him.” Watson was the winner (or loser), with 23 of the 103 golfers surveyed naming him as the one they’d leave to fend for himself.

But Watson took the jab as advice rather than taking it personally.

“I take it as I need to improve as a man,” Watson said Tuesday, per The Golf Channel, as he prepared to defend his Masters title. “I need to get better. And I think over my career, since my rookie season to now, I’ve gotten better. But obviously there’s more room for me to improve as a man.

“I’m glad that people call me out when they do; that’s the only way I can get better. If I don’t know about it, then I can’t improve.”

That’s a pretty solid response from someone whose peers basically said they’d leave for dead.
