A weird thing happened Tuesday night in Atlanta.

Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe was ejected midway through the third quarter against the Hawks after arguing with a referee. That’s nothing unusual, really, but it’s the nature of the play that was a bit bizarre.

Bledsoe’s tantrum actually came after the Hawks were whistled for a foul as he attempted to carry the ball up the court. The guard seemed to take issue with the fact that a referee behind the play called the foul instead of the ref closest to the ball.

Either way, Bledsoe was ejected from a chippy game that featured seven technical fouls, as Atlanta cruised to a 96-69 win.
