Dennis Eckersley Unsure What To Expect From Justin Masterson In Debut (Video)

Another night, another debut for a new Boston Red Sox pitcher.

Wednesday night saw Rick Porcello take the hill for the first time in a Red Sox uniform against the Philadelphia Phillies. Thursday night will see the return of Justin Masterson, who will make his 2015 debut in the series finale.

Masterson had a productive spring training, posting a 3-1 record with a 3.52 ERA in six starts. Yet whether the 30-year-old can translate that into regular-season success after battling injuries and inconsistency in 2014 is a different story.

Before Masterson’s first start, NESN’s Dennis Eckersley was asked what he expected from the 6-foot-6 righthander. Eckersley’s response?

“I’ll tell you what, I’m not quite sure.”

Watch Eckersley break down the pros and cons he sees in Masterson in the video above.
