Jaromir Jagr is going nowhere.

The 43-year-old has agreed to a new one-year contract with the Florida Panthers, the club announced Sunday afternoon. The decision was made after just 20 games, as the Panthers acquired Jagr from the New Jersey Devils prior to the NHL deadline.

In those 20 games, Jagr scored six goals and added 12 assists, appearing to be rejuvenated by playing with Florida’s young forwards. Jagr scored just 11 goals to go along with 18 assists in 57 games with the Devils before the trade.

Jagr will enter next season in striking distance of some legendary players on the all-time leaders lists. Jagr is fifth in career goals and with another 20-goal season could jump into third place, trailing just Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe. He’s also just 48 points behind Howe for third all time.
