Carter Capps has a little extra hop in his step when he pitches. No, literally.

The Miami Marlins hard-throwing right-hander boasts one of the funkiest deliveries in the game, as he actually takes a small jump off the rubber.

Spoiler alert: The unorthodox delivery isn’t illegal. Capps’ mechanics recently came into question while he was pitching for the Marlins’ Triple-A affiliate, the New Orleans Zephyrs, with his first two pitches being deemed illegal. The Marlins contacted Major League Baseball the very next day to ask for clarification, and they told the reliever they have no problem with the hopping motion as long as he doesn’t get too much air.

“They just said they wanted me to make sure I dragged my foot and not get too elevated in the air, and make sure it’s more on a lateral plane,” Capps said. “As long as I do that, they have no problem with it. But it was very strange.”

Sure, that’s the strange part, Capps.
