Mookie Betts is flexing some newfound power this season, and now we know why: He’s just channeling his inner David Ortiz.
The Boston Red Sox outfielder launched his second homer of the season Monday against the Washington Nationals and pretty much has been doing it all. Thanks to some pregame footage from YES Network, it appears he can add swing impressions to that list.
Here’s Betts before Friday’s contest against the New York Yankees, doing his best Big Papi.
Nailed it. We’re not sure about that knee-to-ground follow through, but former Red Sox Adrian Beltre would be proud.
This isn’t the first time Betts has imitated the Red Sox designated hitter, but for some reason, doing it in Yankee Stadium makes it that much sweeter.
