Nets’ Last-Second Win Over Knicks Doesn’t Help Celtics In Playoff Race (Video)

Brook Lopez didn’t do the Boston Celtics any favors Wednesday night.

The Brooklyn Nets were locked in a tight one against the lowly New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, but the big man tipped in a rebound with two seconds left in regulation to help the Nets escape with a 100-98 win.

Lopez’s heroics were particularly huge for Brooklyn, which entered Wednesday with a half-game lead over the Celtics for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Boston took care of its business with a 100-87 win over the Indiana Pacers, but the Nets’ last-second victory allowed them to move into a tie with the Miami Heat for the No. 7 seed in the East and keep the Celtics on the outside looking in.

The C’s have seven games left on their schedule — including back-to-back games against the Cleveland Cavaliers — while the Nets have eight games remaining.
