Here’s a memo to everyone who’s ever played sports ever: Whatever you do, don’t celebrate early.
You’d think the cases of Utah’s Kaelin Clay or the Buffalo Bills’ Sammy Watkins or even this poor runner would be proof enough, but apparently Tanguy Pepiot hasn’t seen any of those videos.
The Oregon runner had a victory locked up for the Ducks in the men’s steeplechase at the Pepsi Team Invitational. Then he went into celebration mode, and you probably can guess what happens next.
Washington’s Meron Simon deserves a ton of credit, as he saw his opportunity and turned on the jets to earn the win. Pepiot, on the other hand, was so crestfallen that even Simon took pity and went over to console him.
So, yeah. Please stop celebrating early, you guys.
