Tuesday’s Baltimore Orioles game was so quiet, you could hear a (golf) pin drop.

The Orioles’ game against the Chicago White Sox was closed to the public as a result of citywide riots in Baltimore, which created for some unusual circumstances at Camden Yards.

Fortunately, the parties involved did their best to adapt to the unique situation, producing some pretty awesome moments in the process. But Gary Thorne might have topped them all.

With the ballpark enveloped in an eerie silence, the Orioles play-by-play announcer decided to follow suit by doing his best imitation of a golf announcer.

The result was pretty impressive, as Thorne’s soft baritone combined with the complete lack of sound made Adam Jones’ scorching line drive feel like a Tiger Woods chip shot at the Masters.

Thorne’s cool experiment might have actually been practical, too. In an interview with the Huffington Post after the game, the O’s broadcaster said his call of Chris Davis’ first-inning home run could be heard throughout the stadium.

Quiet on the green please, Gary.
