Bunting ain’t easy.

Tampa Bay Rays rookie Allan Dykstra had a memorable day at the ballpark Monday, collecting his first major league hit and his first shiner from a bunt-gone-wrong during batting practice all in the same 24 hours.

The 27-year-old had quite the painful pregame experience, as he fouled the second pitch he saw directly into his own face while getting some extra bunting practice in.

Yeah, that looked like it hurt. But Tim Beckham’s reaction to the mishap was nothing short of pure perfection.

Dykstra, who spent parts of seven seasons in the minors before notching his fourth-inning single, was more than OK trading a black eye for a base hit, though.

“If that’s what it takes (to get a hit), I’ll go ahead and get another one,” Dykstra said, per the Tampa Bay Times.
