The Boston Red Sox made a roster move before Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, sending pitcher Matt Barnes to Triple-A Pawtucket while calling up another reliever in Heath Hembree.
While Barnes primarily is a starter in the minor leagues, he appeared in relief for the Red Sox in their 5-4 loss to Baltimore on Saturday night. The right-hander spun two scoreless innings, giving up just two hits and striking out one.
But Hembree has been dealing with the PawSox. The righty has pitched in six games for the Triple-A club, striking out 10 and walking just two in eight innings of work.
