The Boston Red Sox have placed outfielder Shane Victorino on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 23, the team announced Saturday, and recalled right-hander Matt Barnes from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Victorino left Wednesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays in the fifth inning because of right hamstring tightness. He’s batting .143 (5-for-35) with no home runs and two RBIs in 12 games this season.

Barnes has given up five earned runs with six strikeouts in eight innings for the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Boston continues its three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night. Allen Craig will play right field and bat seventh. Brock Holt will start on the bench after going 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Friday night’s 7-5 Red Sox win at Camden Yards.
