There’s no denying the bad blood that exists between the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays.
While the New York Yankees certainly are considered Boston’s biggest rival, one could argue the Red Sox’s rivalry with the Rays has been their most heated in recent years.
The Red Sox and Rays have emptied the benches and brawled on several occasions since Tampa Bay became a major league organization in 1998. The hatred between the clubs only escalated as the Rays became legitimate contenders in the American League East.
Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz, Coco Crisp. All have been involved in altercations with the Rays. And the list of combatants hardly stops there.
