The Miami Dolphins are losing a top draft pick to suspension.
Defensive end Dion Jordan has been suspended for the 2015 season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy for a third time, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday. Jordan was selected by the Dolphins third overall in the 2013 draft.
According to Schefter, Jordan did not fail a drug test, but the NFL determined that one of his samples was diluted, which still counts as a strike. The pass rusher received his first two strikes last season for violations in July and September, which cost him a total of six games. Jordan reportedly will not appeal his latest ban.
Jordan was supposed to be a key member of the Dolphins’ defense in 2014, but he’s been a bust for the most part. In 26 games for the Dolphins, Jordan has recorded just three sacks and 46 combined tackles. Miami reportedly was close to dealing the Oregon product to the Philadelphia Eagles, per Schefter.
