Steven Gerrard has reached another milestone in his glittering Premier League career.

Gerrard played his 500th Premier League game Saturday, going 90 minutes in Liverpool’s goal-less draw with West Bromwich Albion. Gerrard became only the 12th player in Premier League history (since 1992) to hit the 500-game mark — a testament to his excellence and longevity.

Gerrard wasn’t able to mark the 500-game milestone with a goal or vintage performance, but he joined an illustrious group of peers and opponents, nonetheless.

Gerrard, 34, made his Premier League debut in 1998 when he was just 18 years old. Gerrard later went on to become Liverpool’s captain and is regarded as one of the best players in the club’s history. The veteran midfielder has played over 700 games in all competitions for the club he has supported since childhood.

Jamie Carragher, David James and Emile Heskey are the only other present and former Liverpool players in the prestigious club.

Gerrard will leave Liverpool for the Los Angeles Galaxy in July. His Anfield departure most likely will signal the end of his Premier League career. Liverpool has five games remaining in the 2014-15 season, so Gerrard will finish with as many as 505 appearances in England’s top flight.

Gerrard will have played every one of those games in Liverpool’s colors.
