Jonathan Kraft Bill Belichick Tom BradyIt’s hard to get any better than Opening Day of the MLB season. But the Boston Red Sox might have topped it Monday.

The Sox returned to Fenway Park for the first time in 2015, playing the Washington Nationals in their home opener on a warm, sun-soaked afternoon.

Opening Day at Fenway usually comes with plenty of fanfare, and this year certainly didn’t disappoint. The family of Boston Marathon bombing victim Martin Richard was on hand, as were New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, president Jonathan Kraft, coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady to celebrate their Super Bowl victory.

The best moment, however, came when Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington signed Pete Frates, who is fighting an inspirational battle with ALS, to a major league contract with the club.

It was a picture-perfect day filled with plenty of emotions, and you can check out scenes from the memorable afternoon below.
