With the 2014-15 NHL regular season nearing its close, it’s time to start thinking about the top picks for the league’s end-of-the-year awards, specifically the Calder Trophy.

This has been the year of the rookies in the NHL, with a number of young guys shining in their first year with the big boys. From Boston College product Johnny Gaudreau, who is well on his way to star status with the Calgary Flames, to Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad, who has provided valuable scoring production and ice time, the race will be tight for rookie of the year honors.

Let’s not forget Nashville Predators winger Filip Forsberg, who led all rookies in goals, assists and points for most of the year, but has cooled off since.

It’s been a great year for the youngsters, but let’s throw it back a few years. Who was the last Boston Bruin to win the Calder Trophy?
