Yasiel Puig’s arm is so good that it makes headlines even when he’s unable to throw out the base runner.

The Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder reminded us all again Tuesday night that his arm is matched by few if any in the big leagues, and it’s circumstances under which he made the throw that’s the most impressive thing.

With a runner on second against the San Diego Padres, Puig tracked down a lazy fly ball heading toward the seats. Puig was able to make the grab before crashing into the wall. He then braced himself quickly, turned and unleashed a missile across the field to third base as the runner was tagging up. The runner was safe, but the fact that Puig even made it close is remarkable.
