The Boston Red Sox have an eventful month in store for their fans.

The club on Monday announced its schedule of family events for May, kicking off with a celebration of one of America’s favorite movie franchises. The Red Sox will recognize Star Wars Day on Monday with a “May the 4th Be With You” event. Fans can take photos with Darth Vader, the Emperor, Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi, a legion of stormtroopers and various pilots and crewmen before the 7:10 p.m. game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Fans in costume also will be able to enter through Gate C at Fenway Park 2 1/2 hours before the game to watch batting practice.

The fun continues Tuesday with a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the 1975 American League pennant-winning team. All fans in attendance will receive a Carlton Fisk bobblehead, and about 25 members of that Red Sox team will be reunited.

Sunday, May 10, will be all about Mother’s Day. Moms and their families can walk around the warning track from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while face painters, stilt walkers, caricature and balloon artists and Wally and his mom, Wanda, will entertain children.

Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, will be quite a day for season ticket holders, as they’ll be able to take batting practice at Fenway Park. The Red Sox will be in Seattle for a series against the Mariners.

The recognition of the 1975 Red Sox continues Thursday, May 21, with all fans in attendance for that evening’s 7:10 p.m. game against the Texas Rangers receiving a Luis Tiant bobblehead.

The last two events on the May calendar will take place Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24. Saturday is Wally’s birthday, and the Red Sox will have a party at Wally’s Clubhouse at the Kids Concourse from the third through the seventh innings of that night’s 7:10 p.m. game against the Los Angeles Angels. On Sunday, kids will be invited to run the bases after the 1:35 p.m. game.
