Stamford Bridge hosted the biggest party of the 2014-15 English soccer season Sunday, as Chelsea lifted the Premier League trophy in front of their fans.

Chelsea captain John Terry held the trophy aloft following the Blues’ 3-1 win over Sunderland in their last game of 2014-15. Chelsea clinched this season’s Premier League title when it beat Crystal Palace on May 3 but had to wait until the end of the season to collect their winners’ medals and touch English soccer’s most coveted trophy.

Manager Jose Mourinho guided Chelsea to its first domestic title since 2010. After the game, Mourinho said he was happy to share the joy of a title with Chelsea’s fans.

“After that (the win over Sunderland), celebrations are always celebrations,” Mourinho said, according to Chelsea’s website. “The big emotion is when you clinch the title but when you have the cup in your hand it’s always a great feeling. After five years without that at Stamford Bridge it was time for our supporters to enjoy it as well.”

To say Chelsea ran away with this season’s title would be an understatement.

Chelsea will continue to celebrate this season’s triumph with an open-topped bus parade Monday in West London.

Chelsea’s rivals now are tasked with snatching the Premier League trophy from the hands of Terry, Mourinho and others when the 2015-16 season begins in early August.
