BOSTON — Consider it an open tryout.
The Red Sox, whose starting pitching has struggled this season, hosted “Star Wars Night” on Monday at Fenway Park. Chewbacca threw out the ceremonial first pitch, giving Boston a glimpse of what he might be able to provide if the club decides to make changes to its rotation.
Chewbacca wasn’t the only “Star Wars” character in attendance for “May The 4th Be With You” — get it? — but he was the one called upon to throw a strike. R2-D2, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, among others, also were spotted at Fenway.
