On a daily basis, sports fans are treated to highlight reels full of spectacular feats of athleticism. From high-flying slam dunks to jaw-dropping touchdowns, there’s hardly ever a day that doesn’t feature something that makes us say, ‘Wow.’

We also applaud the athletes who return from injury, and lament those whose careers are derailed by their bodies deteriorating and falling apart. Older athletes gain weight and slow down as Father Time catches up to them, but we still cheer them on supporting the limited performances they’re able to achieve.

And then there are female athletes, who often go entirely unnoticed despite overwhelmingly recognizable accomplishments — the most incredible of which is often being a mother.

So we’re saluting all the amazing moms out there, including our own, and taking a look at just a few of the awesome female athlete mothers.
