It didn’t take long for Alfonzo Dennard to find a new home in the NFL.

The Arizona Cardinals claimed Dennard off waivers Wednesday, the team announced. Dennard was waived Tuesday by the Patriots after three years with the team. Since he was waived, the Patriots don’t take any dead money onto their salary cap, and Dennard continues to play under his old contract, which was valued at $1.542 million in 2015.

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound cornerback played in 29 games with the Patriots, starting 20. He intercepted five passes with 17 passes defensed, 90 tackles and one forced fumble.

Dennard initially was drafted 224th overall in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He dropped in the draft after being arrested for assault on a police officer days before the draft. He also was sentenced to 30 days in jail during his Patriots career for violating probation after being arrested on suspicion of DUI.
