Arsenal defended its FA Cup title with a convincing 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday at Wembley Stadium.

The victory gives the Gunners a record 12 FA Cup championships, one more than Premier League rival Manchester United. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger also has tied a record with six FA Cup wins.

Arsenal had been dominating possession in the first half when Theo Walcott, selected to start at striker over Olivier Giroud, opened the scoring with a goal in the 40th minute.

The Gunners scored three times in the second half, starting with a stunning strike by Alexis Sanchez in the 50th minute.

Per Mertesacker scored Arsenal’s third goal on a header in the box in the 62nd minute, and Giroux added a fourth goal in stoppage time.

Villa hasn’t won an FA Cup title since 1957.
