Kris Bryant hit his first career home run Saturday, but the celebration was short-lived.
Well, actually, there was no celebration, at least not initially.
The Cubs’ super prospect finally broke through, hitting his first career home run in his 22nd game since being recalled earlier this season. Bryant — who hit 55 home runs in 181 minor league games over parts of three seasons — tattooed a pitch from Milwaukee’s Kyle Lohse.
The rain-making blast finally came down behind the left-center field fence, giving Bryant plenty of time to enjoy the moment. It also gave his Cubs teammates ample time to vacate the dugout, a light-hearted prank to celebrate the occasion. When Bryant returned to the dugout, he found it completely empty.
