Things changed in a hurry for Mike Napoli over the last week.

The Boston Red Sox first baseman continued a painful cold streak to open the week, but he got red-hot to end the weekend against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Napoli got so hot, in fact, he was named the American League Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Napoli led all major leaguers with a 1.190 OPS and 25 total bases over the last week. He found his swing in a big way, hitting .429 (9-for-21) with five home runs and 10 RBIs for what’s been a struggling Red Sox offense.

This is the third time Napoli’s won AL Player of the Week, and it’s the first time since September of 2013.

Napoli has been able to raise his batting average 37 points to (.211) and his OPS 142 points (.731) in the last week.
