The New England Patriots left themselves with one fewer cornerback Monday morning.
The Patriots informed cornerback Kyle Arrington of his release, a source confirmed to NESN.com. Arrington started four regular season games last season and all three playoff matchups, including Super Bowl XLIX. The Patriots are left without a single starting cornerback from their Super Bowl victory after Arrington’s release and Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner’s free-agency departures.

Arrington played six seasons for the Patriots. He originally was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles out of Hofsta in 2008.
Arrington served as the Patriots’ primary slot cornerback for the past three seasons. He recorded nine interceptions in 78Â games and 56 starts with the Patriots.
Arrington could return to the Patriots on a lower salary. He was due a $4.625 million salary cap hit in 2015.
The Patriots added veteran cornerbacks Bradley Fletcher, Robert McClain and Chimdi Chekwa over the offseason. They also selected Marshall cornerback Darryl Roberts in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler are the only cornerbacks remaining on the Patriots from their 2014 53-man roster.
