The 2004 Boston Red Sox were more than just self-proclaimed “idiots.” They were downright crazy.
Pedro Martinez has been sharing hilarious stories about his former teammates while promoting his new book, “Pedro,” and no one seems wackier than Manny Ramirez. Martinez appeared on “The Late Show” with Seth Meyers on Tuesday and told a story in which Ramirez doctored alcohol shots with Viagra.
It’s well-known, of course, that the 2004 Red Sox supposedly took mini shots before games amid their historic ALCS comeback against the New York Yankees. But according to Martinez, Ramirez took things to another level by adding some extra spice. The slugger then called upon Ellis Burks, who was 40 years old and not on Boston’s roster at the time, to serve as the club’s taste tester.
The result? Hilarity.
