Philippe Coutinho Named LFC Player Of The Year By Fans, Teammates (Video)

Liverpool fans and players agree: Philippe Coutinho was the Reds’ outstanding performer in 2014-15.

Coutinho won Liverpool’s Fans’ and Players’ Player of the Year Awards at the 2015 Players’ Awards ceremony at the Echo Arena on Tuesday, according to the club website. Coutinho claimed the major honors in recognition for a fine season in which he scored eight goals and assisted on six more in 51 games.

Coutinho delivered his acceptance speech in English.

Fans voted Coutinho as the Reds’ top player in an online poll. Fans also awarded the Brazilian playmaker the Goal of the Year Award for his long-range strike against Southampton on Feb. 22 and the Performance of the Year Award for his standout showing against Manchester City on March 1.

Coutinho’s teammates voted him as the top performer in the club’s first team.

Coutinho succeeds Luis Suarez as winner in both Player of the Year and goal of the year categories.

Raheem Sterling was voted Liverpool’s Young Player of the Year. Steven Gerrard received an outstanding achievement award for his lifetime of service to Liverpool.
