Yoan Moncada hit his first snag in the Boston Red Sox system.
Moncada, who is considered the organization’s top prospect after signing a contract in spring training that included a $31.5 million signing bonus, exited Single-A Greenville’s game Saturday with a hamstring injury. The 19-year-old slid hard into third base on a triple and came up hurt.

“Not sure, we’ll know more tomorrow,” Greenville manager Darren Fenster told reporters after the game of Moncada’s injury, which doesn’t appear too serious yet certainly is notable.
Moncada’s triple marked his first professional extra-base hit. The Cuban infielder has played five games with the Greenville Drive since joining the team following a stint at Red Sox extended spring training in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Red Sox spent $63 million to acquire Moncada’s services, as they were required to pay a 100 percent tax to Major League Baseball in addition to the signing bonus they awarded the Cuban phenom.
