Talk about impeccable timing.

While the New England Patriots are dealing with the findings of Ted Wells’ DeflateGate investigation and the possible punishments involved Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Brandon Spikes is in Foxboro for a free-agent visit.

The middle linebacker played for the Patriots for four seasons starting in 2010 before signing a one-year deal with the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills in 2014. Spikes and the Pats had a rather infamous falling out, too, as the 27-year-old tweeted “4 years a slave” to describe his time in New England.

However, things seemed to be overblown by the season’s end, as Spikes tweeted his support for Pats owner Robert Kraft ahead of the 2014 AFC Championship Game between the Patriots and Indianapolis Colts.

Spikes had a rather lackluster season for Buffalo, but he had 286 combined tackles to go with five forced fumbles and two interceptions over parts of four seasons with the Patriots.
