Las Vegas Sportsbooks Pull Patriots-Steelers Game After Wells Report

It appears Las Vegas is ready for some sort of NFL discipline on Tom Brady.

The New England Patriots quarterback took a hit Wednesday — at least outside of New England — as the Wells Report was released. In the report — which looked into the Patriots’ alleged use of under-inflated footballs in the AFC Championship Game — investigators concluded “it is more probable” that Brady “was at least generally aware” of “inappropriate activities” of two Patriots employees.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Brady could face discipline from the NFL, which technically means the quarterback’s status for Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season could be in jeopardy. With that in mind, the Patriots’ opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers has been taken off the board at some Las Vegas sportsbooks, according to David Payne Purdum of ESPN Chalk.

“Basically, we closed all games involving Patriots until we get a better understanding of what’s going on,” a spokesperson from Sportsbook.ag told Covers.com. “Minutes before we closed the Week 1 line, we took a flurry of bets on Steelers +6.5.”

The line for a Patriots-Steelers game without Brady would be a pick ’em, according to Covers’ Jason Logan.
