Don’t expect the New York Yankees to make any knee-jerk reactions after placing pitcher Masahiro Tanaka on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm strain.

Yankees people shot down the rumor that New York is thinking more about trading for Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels in the wake of Tanaka’s injury, according to CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman.

“Not looking,” one Yankees person reportedly said.

According to Heyman, another Yankees person wondered whether Hamels still fits the “ace” mold or whether the left-hander is simply a big name at this point.

That said, the Phillies probably would prefer if the Yankees remain connected to Hamels, as it would drive up the 31-year-old’s price in other potential deals. The Boston Red Sox, of course, have been linked to Hamels for a while, and Heyman recently heard the Phillies like outfield prospect Manuel Margot.

Hamels, a three-time All-Star, went 9-9 with a 2.46 ERA in 30 starts last season. The veteran southpaw is 1-2 with a 3.19 ERA through five starts in 2015.
