Rick Porcello: slump buster.

The Boston Red Sox’s newest $20 million man is finally starting to look like it. The Sox only have won two of their last seven games, and Porcello was the starting pitcher for both of them. In fact, of Porcello’s six starts this season, five have come following a loss and two have come the day after the Red Sox gave up double-digit runs. The team has won four of those five starts.

“We needed it,” Porcello said of his strong outing in Tuesday night’s 2-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. “We’ve got to step up as a staff, provide some stability for our offense. It was a nice win, hopefully we’re headed in the right direction.”
