Shane Victorino has struggled to stay in the lineup for the Boston Red Sox, let alone produce when he does. The first step toward remedying that could come as early as next week.
According to The Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham, Victorino is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment sometime this week and could rejoin the team as soon as next week in Oakland.
Should Victorino return and stay healthy, his presence would further complicate an already crowded outfield in which playing time for Allen Craig and Daniel Nava has been limited. Keeping Brock Holt in the lineup also has become a more pressing matter since Victorino went down, so how everything shakes out should be interesting, to say the least.
