BOSTON — Shane Victorino just can’t stay on the field.
Victorino exited Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels at Fenway Park in the fourth inning with left calf tightness. The Boston Red Sox outfielder sat out Thursday and Friday with a calf issue.
Victorino, who was limited to 30 major league games last season because of various injuries, already spent time on the disabled list this season with a hamstring injury. The 34-year-old underwent season-ending back surgery in 2014 and simply hasn’t been able to stay healthy for the Red Sox.
“With (Victorino), I’ll be honest with you, I kind of take a day-to-day approach with him,” Red Sox manager John Farrell said before Saturday’s game.
Mookie Betts pinch-hit for Victorino in the third inning. Victorino seemingly injured himself while flagging down a fly ball in right field in the top half of the inning.

Betts remained in the game as Boston’s new center fielder. Rusney Castillo shifted over to right field.
