USA Beats Denmark 1-0 At World Hockey Championships, Moves Atop Group B

The United States held on for a 1-0 shutout of Denmark in Friday’s preliminary round game at the 2015 IIHF World Championships in the Czech Republic.

New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson scored the only goal in the second period. Bruins defenseman Torey Krug played 20:02 and tallied one shot. His four-game point streak ended.

The victory moves Team USA atop Group B with 12 points in five games. Belarus is second with 10 points and one less game played. The top four teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals.

The United States’ next game is Sunday against Slovakia. The preliminary round ends Tuesday.
