Aaron Hernandez has very little to be optimistic about these days, but don’t tell that to Aaron Hernandez.

The former New England Patriots tight end was sentenced to life in prisonĀ earlier this year after being found guilty in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, and he will soon face charges for a 2012 double murder. Oh, right, Hernandez was also recently involved in a prison fight, but despite all of that, he’s somehow managing to stay surprisingly upbeat behind bars.

In a handwritten letter to a female fan that TMZ Sports obtained, Hernandez apologized for taking so long to reply, explaining that he receives “numerous letters daily.” He also thanked his admirer for her support while telling herĀ he’s doing “well” atĀ MCI Cedar Junction in Walpole, Mass.

ā€œI am doing well and will always, we have so much to be thankful for in life, even when we naturally focus on the negatives,ā€ he wrote, per TMZ Sports. ā€œBut there are many ways we are all blessed and should all wake up with smiles, daily!ā€

The 25-year-old also appeared to close the note in a flirtatious manner. According to TMZ, the woman hinted at visiting Hernandez in prison in her letter, and he didn’t exactly discourage that in his response.

“P.S. You should have asked, I would have accepted, but donā€™t regret it, everything happens for a reason šŸ™‚ lol.ā€
