When Abby Wambach tells you to do something, you do it.

Team USA was locked in a scoreless tie with China heading into the second half of their Women’s World Cup quarterfinal Friday night in Ottawa. Before the Americans took the field for the final 45 minutes, though, Wambach had some choice words for her teammates.

Epic.

Clearly, Carli Lloyd was listening. The midfielder played a great ball from teammate Julie Johnston and took a page out of Wambach’s book, finding the back of the net on a perfectly placed header in the 51st minute, six minutes into the second half.

The goal gave Team USA a 1-0 lead. Friday’s game also marked Lloyd’s 200th career cap with Team USA, so it was only fitting for her to score the goal.
