It’s safe to say fans in Kansas City are fired up about their Royals.
MLB.com released a second update Monday to the MLB All-Star Game voting results for the American League. The Royals currently have five players positioned to start the Midsummer Classic at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
Royals catcher Salvador Perez remains the AL’s leading vote-getter, compiling 2,681,063 votes as of June 1. Third baseman Mike Moustakas, shortstop Alcides Escobar and outfielders Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon also sit atop their respective positions. Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout currently is sandwiched between Cain and Gordon in the outfield voting.
In an interesting twist, no one on the Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees has made a hard push so far. There’s still time to vote, though. Voting ends July 2 at 11:59 p.m. ET, with the All-Star Game taking place July 14.
