It’s been 46 years since Bill Russell last suited up for the Boston Celtics, but his jersey still (understandably) is in high demand.
One of the NBA legend’s game-worn Celtics jerseys recently sold at an auction for $98,525. In addition, a Johnny Unitas Baltimore Colts jersey fetched the same amount, and a Wilt Chamberlain Philadelphia Warriors jersey sold for $108,378.
Russell enjoyed one of the most legendary careers not just in Celtics history but in NBA history. The former center spent his entire 13-year career in Boston, racking up a whopping 11 championship rings and 12 All-Star seasons. He also appears on plenty of the C’s all-time leaderboards, including his nearly unbeatable records for total rebounds (21,620) and rebounds per game (22.5).
