Bob Baffert Remembers Late Parents After Winning Triple Crown (Video)

Bob Baffert has been waiting for this moment his entire career. When American Pharoah crossed the finish line at the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, Baffert finally won the elusive Triple Crown.

Arguably the greatest trainer in the sport’s history, Baffert needed just the Crown to cement his legacy. Saturday, after three previous chances at a Triple Crown in 1997, 1998 and 2002, Baffert achieved horse racing glory. He remembered his late parents in the moments following the win.

“It’s very emotional, I’m thinking about my parents,” a choked up Baffert told NBC. “I wish they were alive to see this. I was hoping it would happen. I didn’t know how it would feel, but now I know.”
