Glory Johnson-Griner’s happy news Thursday was dampened Friday by some troubling new developments.

The Tulsa Shock forward’s wife, Brittney Griner, filed for an annulment of their marriage just 28 days after the couple tied the knot.

“Last Wednesday, Glory and I agreed to either legally separate, get divorced, or annul our marriage,” Griner said in a statement, via USA TODAY Sports.”I can confirm that today (Friday) I filed for an annulment. In the week prior to the wedding, I attempted to postpone the wedding several times until I completed counseling, but I still went through with it. I now realize that was a mistake.”

Griner, a center on the WNBA champion Phoenix Mercury, claimed in court documents acquired by USA TODAY Sports that she was “pressured into marriage under duress” and that Johnson-Griner made “fraudulent statements.”

Johnson-Griner announced via Instagram on Thursday that she was pregnant and would miss the entire WNBA season, but Griner said in the documents she has no biological relationship to the child, and that Johnson got pregnant via in-vitro fertilization using donated sperm.

The couple got married in early May, just two weeks after both were arrested on suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct in a domestic violence incident that earned them seven-game suspensions from the WNBA.
