The Boston Bruins will begin the 2015-16 NHL season with a three-game homestand that includes games against the Winnipeg Jets, rival Montreal Canadiens and defending Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning.

There are a few areas of note regarding the schedule, which the Bruins released Thursday.

First, the B’s will play the Canadiens five times, one more than they did last season. All of last season’s Bruins-Habs games were on the second night of a back-to-back for Boston, but there are none of those instances on this schedule.

The most notable Bruins-Canadiens game, of course, is the 2016 Winter Classic on Jan. 1 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.

The Black Friday matinee also will return, as the Bruins and New York Rangers square off at 1 p.m. on Nov. 27 at TD Garden.

The Bruins will host the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks on March 3. The Edmonton Oilers (with likely No. 1 draft pick Connor McDavid) will make their only trip to Boston on Dec. 14.
